Elite Pro Profile: Adam Franceschini

By Sage Fly Fish

Adam grew up in the Berkshire Mountains of northwest CT, where he learned how to fish at a early age using a rod that his grandfather made for him. This is where he got his passion for fishing and learned to love and appreciate the outdoors. Adam began guiding on the famed rivers of western Montana, where he quickly learned how to navigate a drift boat on big water. Since then, he has guided on the San Juan River in NM, the Amazon basin of Brazil, Salmon River in Pulaski, NY, as well as serving as head guide on the Housatonic River in CT for five years.

Along with being a commercial fly designer and Ambassador for The American Museum Of Fly Fishing, he is a popular guest speaker and Sage Elite Pro. Adam is a year-round Professional Guide, holding guide licenses in 6 states, working on the water eleven months of the year. He spends his springs guiding for Westbranch Anglers in Hancock, NY, his fall and winters guiding on the South Holston in Bristol, TN and his summers guiding for Tikchik Narrows Lodge in Bristol Bay, AK.

career highlights

Being able to live my dream. It’s unbelievably rewarding to be able to go fishing every day and call it work.

conservation work

Conservation of the sport. Being an ambassador for the The American Museum of Fly Fishing, I feel it’s important to teach history through a modern day approach.

Philosophy on Fly Fishing

Fly fishing is a way of life that allows me to unplug from day to day life and connect with the outdoors. Holding a fish in front of a camera is not what it's about. For me it's the journey to new places fishing new rivers and sharing it with others.

One Tip to Improve One’s Fishing

It's not about the numbers.

perfect day

Floating down the river looking for trout feeding on dry flies.
