SAGE BUILD A ROD // STAGE 7

Every Sage blank gets sanded to remove the ridges imprinted from the cello and baking processes. Our precision machinery allows us to accurately remove the resin edge without touching the graphite. Every part we sand has a particular setting on the machine, insuring precision every time.

Sage has a long history of unique colors ranging from subtle browns to bright vivid colors. Every color you have seen from Sage has been custom formulated in our lab.

Next time you see a rack of Sage rods at your local dealer take a look and see how distinct all of the colors are. You will see that some are translucent allowing you to see through to the graphite while others are more opaque. Sage coatings are dynamic and have special character and change under different lighting conditions. Taking the time to create custom colors allows us to add more character to each family of rods we release.

Two coatings are applied, a color base and a UV resistant clear coat. The coating is more than cosmetic. It helps protect the graphite-epoxy composite from the harsh outdoor environments we all love to find ourselves in while fishing.

The MOD is finished in a Jade color that glows in bright lights during its final inspection for the blank process.

Follow us next week as we straighten up. #sagebuildarod
