TROUT SEASON 2019

This summer we took our ’85 VW Vanagon on a bit of a journey through the Rocky Mountain West. Between Montana, Idaho, and Colorado, we added a few thousand miles to the speedometer, replaced a few crucial parts, tilted *slightly* off axis, and even hosted a rodent companion for a night (sorry Andrew). In its most honest definition, we truly embraced the trout bum lifestyle. From fast-paced high mountain streams in Colorado, to the majestic Madison River in Montana, we got a taste of some of the finest trout fishing in the west. While the fishing was, well, incredible, it’s the people and communities whom we shared these experiences that made it not only possible, but unforgettable.

    GALLATIN RIVER, MONTANA

Our next stop led us to the headquarters of our regional sales rep, Kurt Kruger. Based out of the Gallatin Valley, Kurt has an envious position, with incredible fishing just steps from his front door. He was kind enough to show us around for a few days, starting with a session a stone's throw from his office.

The first day's outing proved difficult. With prime conditions and bugs all around, we were puzzled not to see any noses breaking the surface. Regardless, the water was refreshing and Tug had no problem taking advantage of the slow fishing. We left the river having chatted on the bank and thrown sticks for tug more than actually cast a rod, and recouped with a tasty meal in town. Day two was a different story...

Turns out cotton t-shirts don't dry quick after a swim. A change was necessary...

Stay tuned for the next installment of our Trout Season Recap. This one with a couple more bent rods...
